Every journey starts with a single step.
Since you’re reading this, that means I have bravely taken that first stride in starting my blog, something I have been thinking about doing for a lot longer than I would actually feel comfortable to admit.
For the longest of times, I knew I wanted to have my own blog, my own little corner on the internet, a sanctuary to call my home. However, due to – well, to be quite frank – excuses (and a lot of them!) I kept putting off starting my blog until I moved out. And at the time of publishing this post, it’s been almost 3 months since I moved into my own home with my fiancé, yet I have only just worked up the nerve to open the internet gates to my little world.
I could give you a list of sensible reasons why, but a longer list of excuses, however I have decided to stop caring about any of that for the time being. This is my place, my home. There will always be blogs out there that are better than mine, that have more followers or a greater variety of posts, but if I don’t start now, then when will I?
I have thought a lot about what would have happened if I had started when I first had the little acorn planted in my head: my blog would be in a much different place now. I would have so much more experience in writing, photographing, SEO, and a whole lot of other blogging technicalities, and I think that is one of the factors that is motivating me to start it now.
For so long, I have been concerned about making mistakes, not having the time to blog, or the topics to blog about, but in writing and publishing this, I am telling myself that it doesn’t matter. I will make mistakes and my blog is my space, and I’m here to write about anything and everything.
Ultimately, Sincerely Rebecca is the chronology of my life. It is my motivation and accountability for my continuous journey of self-improvement, and my documentation and lessons shared as I get married next year and look to start a family afterwards.
So whether you are reading this on the day I publish it, or you are reading it days, weeks, months, years afterwards, I welcome you to my little corner of the internet, and I hope you enjoy yourselves here.
