Intro to BuJo: My Favourite Spreads (Part 1)

August 22, 2017

The Bullet Journal came into my life almost two years ago now. For a while, I was hesitant to trial new ideas, and forced myself to use spreads that were accepted by the masses, even if they didn’t work for me. However recently, I have been reflecting on my BuJo journey. I have been through my previous journals and gathered my favourite Bullet Journal spreads.

Month in review

I have always loved reviewing my months. In my Intro to BuJo: The Do’s and Don’ts, you can see a doodling of my monthly memories. I have changed that concept slightly since then. In June, I created my first version of the spread pictured above (which I also used in July and will be using in August) It is something to fill out either as the month goes on, or at the end of the month, to reflect upon what you have loved or done during the month. Although I’ve only been using it for 2 months now, I absolutely love it! It’s perfect to see how I’m changing over the months and remember how I felt/what I was doing in those months.

My Craft/Reading trackers

OK, ok, if you look closely at this photo you will see that there are no entries after 25th July. No, this photo isn’t really old… But I moved Bullet Journals in July and haven’t really kept up with this overall tracker… I still track my crafting, reading and writing in my monthly trackers, I’ve just neglected to fill this overview tracker out. However, I will change that soon and get it sorted! I love this spread because I can easily see how often I’m doing certain hobbies, and it also injects a bit of colour into my journal!

My Disney DVDs

Perhaps the most epic thing about this spread is that it was featured on the Leuchtturm1917de Instagram page! I was beyond ecstatic when I saw that they had reposted it. Disney is so important in my life (the other half and I have recently booked our honeymoon to Disney!) so naturally I have a lot of Disney DVDs. However it is kind of tough to remember which ones I own so I created this spread. Honestly, I’ve not bought many DVDs recently but having this in my journal allows me to easily see which ones I’m missing. It also means it is easier to give people birthday gift ideas for me, too!

My Yearly Goals

I am a bit of a goals orientated person. Each month, I set myself goals to try and achieve, based off my yearly goals. My spreads for yearly goals has changed a bit since I created this one back in January 2016, but the idea behind it is the same. It is the perfect place to remind me what I want to achieve to be my best me. For me, this is an absolute staple to have in my bullet journal. This spread is always something that I really want to include in new bullet journals, too. Have you got a goals page?

TV show tracker

Ever finish watching a TV series and then wonder what to do with yourself? Or ponder which series to start next? I always had a long list of series to watch, but I also always forgot which series were on that list when the time came to start a new adventure! Last November, I created this spread and, although I haven’t filled it in completely (I have watched the majority of The Originals, and I have finished Pretty Little Liars and Fear the Walking Dead) I love that this tracker reminds me of the shows I want to watch!

Level 10 Life

If you have been in the Bullet Journal community for a while, you will have undoubtedly seen some version of Level 10 Life. If you are new to the BuJo community, the Level 10 idea revolves around reaching a Level 10 in different areas of our lives, with Level 10 being the highest level of success/satisfaction you can achieve. It is all about honest assessments of where you are in your life right now and how you can change that to improve your level. I went with what seems to be the standard 10 areas, and I have been completing the same measurements each month to see how I am changing over the months (I will post more in depth about that in the future). Personally, I love the Level 10 life as a way of reflection and self-improvement.

These Dailies

I love colour. There, I’ve said it. I’m so inspired by all of the minimalist black and white Bullet Journals out there on Instagram but I love my colour too much to commit to that. I use colour each month in my set-ups (June, July, August) but this spread from May (my birthday month!) really brings a smile to my face. Maybe I’ll bring the rainbow back for September, especially as I now own the 42 pack of Staedtler Triplus Fineliners!

What is your favourite spread of the ones I have mentioned here? What is your favourite spread that I haven’t mentioned?
